General Liang was ambushed by over 100,000 troops. Without lamenting about his fate, he ordered his troop of about few hundred men to throw open the city gates, and hide.
He sat on the most visible part of the city’s wall and waited for his enemies to arrive. Minutes later he could see the vast army of his enemies approaching. Soon the army stood at the town gates undecided about whether or not to invade the empty city and capture the great general.
After a while, their leader ordered them to retreat because he felt they were walking into a trap.
The great general had a reputation for deploying great tactics in war. He was known to always have tricks up his sleeve. But on this particular day he had no tricks, he merely bluffed.
The first and only step in mastering the art of bluffing is to build your integrity and reputation.
