čöćConversation with yourselvesčöć

We live our lives reflecting on the past and being very uncertain about the future. It’s true that we fear what we do not know and trust that which we know.

Today’s prompt is a swing to the past and future. What would you tell your younger and future self?

TO MY YOUNGER SELF:

I want you to know, you did an amazing job. It was okay to worry about everything because guess what? That aspect of you didn’t change. I think we still have a lot in common. We are both still goofy, funny and annoying.

I sincerely want to apologise to you. I am sorry for giving up on some of the dreams you had. I was scared of failing and I just didn’t try.

I don’t know if I will reawaken those old passions and end up making you proud. I don’t know, I don’t know a lot of things.

I have new dreams now and I am not scared of failing this time.

I am glad we met.

With love,

From your present self.čî╝

TO MY FUTURE SELF:

I don’t know the kind of woman you will eventually become, because you keep transforming and evolving. But I am really excited and can’t wait to meet you. I see you doing great things and owning your truth.

Sometimes I see you from a distance in my trances. It’s usually blurry, and I can’t seem to see your features clearly but you radiate a lot of energy.

I have a lot of questions to ask, would I still be worrying about everything? Does life get harder or easier? Was everything worth it? Would I be successful and fulfilled? Would I eventually take all those trips to my dream destinations? Would I end up loving that Okpa delicacy?

The questions are so much, but I know I will not get my answers until I meet you.

The future is quite uncertain. However, I am willing to embrace the uncertainty because some of the most beautiful chapters in our lives won’t have a title until much later.

I want you to know I will keep writing my chapters till then.

With Love,

From your present self.čî╝
