Understanding Purpose

“There is no greater gift you can give or receive than to honor your calling. It’s why you were born. And how you become most truly alive.”

―Oprah Winfrey

Understanding Purpose

‘Understanding purpose’ should be in the Guinness book of records for the second most researched and talked about topic in Christian seminars and religious programmes. The first is actually ‘marriage, sex and God’ or something like that, I am not sure how they put it in these banners and fliers nowadays.

Religious or not, I really think there is something intentional about our existence on earth. I don’t think we are living just to pay bills and lose weight or gain as the case may be.

Contrary to popular belief, purpose is not defined by one singular thing a person is called to do or not to do. Neither is it something rare you are supposed to dig for a thousand years before you discover. Or something hidden in the stars and whatnot.

Purpose isn’t farfetched, it is within your grasp. And it’s not just one thing, it is a collection of so many things that you find a genuine passion for. It was never hidden in the stars but has always been part of you all your life.

You are a bunch of purposes!

Your skills, talents & personalities serve so many purposes at once. You weren’t just made to occupy space and spend your life dying to live.

We were made for something bigger than ourselves. Something ordinary yet extraordinary.

Truth be told, understanding your ‘purposes’ at any given point or stage in your life propels you to live more intentionally every day as you yearn to fulfill every of your life goals.

It’s important you take a step back and reflect on the things you are passionate about? What is your purpose? What is it you are actually living for?

I will go first, I am passionate about working with people, young and old alike. I am passionate about learning, impacting and inspiring people. My love and passion for writing and public speaking drives my earnest desire to encourage, enlighten and entertain people around me.

However, in order to bring out the best in people, I have to be the very best for myself. So, I am constantly fine-tuning my talents and developing my skills to ensure I give my very best.

That’s what my life is basically about and whatever is not serving me and my life’s work, I find the courage to walk away.

Let me hear your thoughts in the comment section.

Happy new month, Dearies.💚

  2. Very correct, I think a person’s purpose is something they’re passionate about, something that gives them a sense of fulfilment no matter how little.
One of mine is I like to make life easier for those in difficult situations, like the less privileged, I hope to do more in future.

  3. You are on point Ria. A person’s purpose is their map through the journey of life. Without understanding this, a person will simply wander aimlessly through.

In broad terms, my purpose is to make a positive difference on different facets of life. My blog page is one of such projects. Thanks for sharing a great post.
