My Favourite Local Food

I yam what I yam. — Yam lovers

Day 03

My favourite local dish is anything that has to do with yam:

  • Porridge yam
  • Pounded yam and soup
  • Yamarittas
  • Boiled yam
  • Fried yam
  • Roasted yam
  • Frozen yam (This doesn’t exist but I am willing to take the chance)

Let me take you on a delicious journey to what yam has to offer:

Yam is a delicacy made for the elites, it is not for the weak-hearted because heaven knows it has serious choking tendencies.

Not only is it high in carbs, but it also contains a decent amount of fibre and other micronutrients. The health and nutritional benefits of yam are many, click here to read more.

In addition to its health benefits, it also holds great cultural value. You can’t talk about the Igbo tribe without mentioning yam. I wrote something about my culture some time last year, you can check it here.

Are there any yam lovers in the house? Which option is your favourite combo?💃

Over to the non-yam lovers, what’s your favourite local food? Kindly let me know in the comment section.

    1. You said what?!
You should totally give yam a chance in your life but don’t forget to brace for impact and have a glass of water handy.👍
Remember, it’s not for the faint-hearted.💪
